Shrinkrs / Documents and data
Convert Markdown to PDF
Paste or open a Markdown file, check the live preview, and save it as a PDF with selectable text. It all runs in your browser, so your notes and documents stay private.
How to use the Markdown to PDF tool
- STEP 1
Paste or open Markdown
Type or paste into the editor, or open a .md file from your device.
- STEP 2
Check the preview
Headings, tables, task lists and code blocks render as you type. Pick A4 or Letter and a font size.
- STEP 3
Save as PDF
Press Create PDF and choose Save as PDF as the destination in the print window.
What Markdown features are supported
The converter reads GitHub-flavoured Markdown: headings, bold and italics, links, ordered and unordered lists, task lists, block quotes, tables, strikethrough, inline code and fenced code blocks. Images work when you link to a web address. Images are loaded by your browser directly from that address, not through any Shrinkrs server.
It does not draw maths formulas or diagrams such as Mermaid. If your document depends on those, a desktop tool like Pandoc is a better fit.
Getting a clean PDF
Shrinkrs hands the formatted document to your browser's own PDF engine. That gives you a real PDF with selectable, searchable text and sharp type at any zoom, rather than a screenshot of the page. It also means the print window appears: set the destination to Save as PDF, and untick Headers and footers if you do not want the date and page address printed in the margins.
On a phone, the same dialog offers Save as PDF through the share or print menu. Page size and margins here override the dialog's defaults in most browsers.
Questions people ask
Is my Markdown sent to a server?
No. It is rendered and converted in your browser. Nothing is stored or transmitted.
Why does a print window open?
Saving through the browser's print engine gives a high-quality PDF with real text instead of an image. Choose Save as PDF as the destination.
Does it support tables and code blocks?
Yes, both, along with task lists, block quotes and strikethrough. Code is shown in a monospace font, without syntax colouring.
Can I use Letter or A4 paper?
Yes. Choose the page size above the preview. Margins and font size are adjustable too.
What about Markdown with maths or Mermaid diagrams?
Those are not supported. They will appear as plain text or code.
