How to use the WebP to JPG tool

  1. STEP 1

    Add your WebP files

Drop up to 50 files onto the box or select them from your device.

  2. STEP 2

    Choose the JPG quality

90 is a good default for photos. Lower it for smaller files.

  3. STEP 3

    Download

Save them individually or together as a ZIP.

Why WebP images need converting

More sites now serve images as WebP, so a right-click save often gives you a .webp file. It displays fine in a browser, but plenty of software does not accept it: older versions of Office, some photo editors, many marketplace and government upload forms, and a lot of printing services. JPG is accepted nearly everywhere.

What to expect from the result

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas of a WebP become white. If you need transparency, convert to PNG instead. Animated WebP files give a single still image from the first frame.

JPG files from this tool are often larger than the WebP they came from, since WebP is the more efficient format. That is normal. If the size matters, lower the JPG quality to 75 or 80, or set a max width. Re-encoding strips camera metadata, which is a small privacy bonus.

Questions people ask

What quality should I choose for WebP to JPG?

90 for photos you want to keep sharp, 80 for web use, 70 for small previews. The preview thumbnail updates with each change.

Why does a transparent WebP get a white background?

JPG cannot store transparency. Use WebP to PNG if you need to keep it.

Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Add up to 50 and download them as a ZIP.

Will the JPG look the same as the WebP?

At quality 90 it will look the same to the eye in nearly all cases. If you see a difference in an image with flat colours or sharp text, raise the quality to 95.

Are my images uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser.
