Convert WebP to PNG

Change WebP images into PNG files that every editor and upload form accepts. Transparency is kept, and your files never leave your device.

How to use the WebP to PNG tool

  1. STEP 1

    Add WebP files

Drop up to 50 .webp images, or choose them from your device.

  2. STEP 2

    Wait a moment

Each file is converted as soon as it is added. You can set a max width first if you want to shrink it.

  3. STEP 3

    Download the PNGs

Save one by one or as a ZIP.

Why convert WebP to PNG

You save an image from a website and it turns out to be WebP. Some editors, slide programs, print services and older systems cannot open it. PNG is the safe, universal choice, and it is the one to pick when the picture has a transparent background, since both formats support alpha.

Things to know

Animated WebP files contain several frames. A browser draws only the first one when it converts, so you get a still PNG of the first frame, not an animation. For photographs, expect the PNG to be several times larger than the WebP, because PNG is lossless. If you only need a smaller, widely compatible photo, WebP to JPG is a better fit.

Converting does not restore detail that WebP compression already removed. The PNG is an exact copy of what the WebP looked like.

Questions people ask

Does the PNG keep a transparent background?

Yes, transparency in the WebP is carried over to the PNG.

Will quality be lost?

No further loss happens during the conversion, since PNG is lossless. The PNG matches the WebP exactly, including any compression artefacts already in it.

Can it convert animated WebP?

Only the first frame. The output is a still PNG.

How many files can I convert at once?

Up to 50, with a ZIP download for the batch.

Is it private?

Yes. Nothing is uploaded. Your browser does the conversion locally.
